Ansel Easton Adams is perhaps America's most famous photographer. Born in 1902, he began his career as the great chronicler of the vistas of the American West at the age of 14. His images of the dignity and majesty of the land have contributed to a national awareness of the need to preserve the places he loved so that all Americans for all time can share the wonder that the land he recorded inspires.
